About
Long Way Round is a travel journal about taking the slow route: trains instead of planes, walking instead of driving, staying a little longer than planned.
How this site is built
It is a sample of the Lumiose framework: 10 Markdown posts and 10 tags, turned into plain HTML files by lumiose build.
- Content: Markdown files with YAML frontmatter, imported as static components with Lumiose's
.mdimports. Their frontmatter is validated at build time, and their headings make each post's table of contents. - Routes: posts, tags and journal pages are dynamic routes, prerendered once for each entry of their
staticPaths(). - Feeds: the RSS feed, the sitemap and the search index are static
GETendpoints, written to files at build time. - Styles: global styles in the root layout, one scoped
<style>block at the end of each component file, and design tokens fromtheme.tsread as$theme.*and inlined at build time. - Islands: only the search box and the theme toggle ship JavaScript. Every other page is HTML and CSS.
- Navigation: ordinary links between pages, animated with cross-document View Transitions where the browser supports them.
